Youth Groups
We invite all youth grades 6th - 12th to
participate in our CHAVTY (CHAVerim Temple Youth) Youth Group
activities. Active participation in CHAVTY helps to instill Jewish identity, foster a
commitment to Reform Judaism ideals and values, and increase synagogue participation among
our youth. The youth are grouped by grade: Junior CHAVTY (6th - 8th grades) and CHAVTY
(9th - 12th grades), who generally meet once a month on Sunday after Hebrew School.

CHAVTY Group Goals
 Provide opportunities for our Jewish youth to meet
and become friends with one another.
Instill a sense of community –
Jewish community – among Beth Chaverim youth.
Enjoy social/recreational activities
together.
Participate in Jewish life together through
rituals, celebrations, and customs.
Foster involvement in local and regional North American Federation for Temple
Youth activities.
CHAVTY Group Values
Social Action: Commitment to Tikkun Olam
(repairing the world), is a component of the youth group experience. Through community
service, we are committed to learning, caring and making a difference in the world.
Leadership Development: In order to create
the Reform Jewish leadership of tomorrow, we engage in social and community projects with
adult mentors. However, we strongly encourage our children to take an active role in
planning their events.
Jewish Community: We strive to create a
Jewish community in which our youth feel a sense of belonging, friendship, and purpose.
Personal Growth: Through a Jewish community,
adult Reform Jewish mentors, leadership development, and social action, we aim to provide
Reform Jewish youth with the ethical tools to make sound decisions in their day-to-day
lives.
