Worship Beth Chaverim is dedicated to providing you with a spiritual home in which you and your family may worship, learn, and grow as you participate in Reform Jewish practices and observances. All Beth Chaverim Reform Congregation worship services are open to all congregants and non-congregants from the community who would like to participate in a Reform Jewish Shabbat service.Rabbi Joseph is devoted to helping congregants become both spiritually connected to and better educated about Reform Judaism, and to bringing our community closer together in worship, study, and practices of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world). We are fortunate to enjoy the musical talents of several of our own members; our team of Beth Chaverim singers, musical accompanists, and cantorial soloist bring a particularly joyful spirit to our worship services. We hope you will join our community to study Torah, to pray with sincerity, and to do acts of loving kindness both within and outside of our walls.
Traditional Erev Shabbat Service: Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat service (7:30 pm) appropriate for congregants of all ages. At times, one of the Sunday school upper grades (4th -7th grade) participates in these services. Morning Shabbat Service: Saturday morning service that usually includes a Torah service or Torah study session with a sermon. This service is usually led by our Rabbi and often includes Bnai Mitzvahs or other life-cycle events. Occasionally, one of the Sunday school upper grades participate in this service. Those interested in having an aliyot at upcoming services are encouraged to contact the Worship VP. Jammin Shabbat Service: Friday night service for congregants of all ages who enjoy services filled with singing and music. All who play musical instruments or sing are encouraged to participate. Those interested in participating musically please contact Phil Kane. Family Youth Service: Friday night, Saturday or Sunday morning short services (about 30 minutes) geared to introduce young people, ages 3-8, to the prayers, songs, and traditions of Shabbat. Led by our Rabbi or lay leader, this service includes occasional participation by a Sunday school class (pre-K - 3rd).
About twice a year, each Beth Chaverim member (family or individual) is called upon to serve as a Helper Family at either our Shabbat services or a holiday event. We need and greatly appreciate your help. In addition to bringing food or drinks for the Oneg, we ask that you arrive at services early to help set up and then stay afterwards to help clean up. The Helper Family schedule is announced in advance through e-mail and the Chaverim Bulletin. If the date assigned to you by the Worship Committee is not convenient, please contact a Helper Family scheduled for a date that would work for you and ask to switch. If this is not possible, please let the Worship VP know as soon as possible. Thank you for fulfilling this essential mitzvah. For any questions or comments please contact the Worship VP.
